Ingredients for Kueh Talam Ubi Kayu (Steamed Tapioca Cake):
- 1 grated coconut
- 3 oz. (90g.) cornflour
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 cups grated tapioca (drained of excess liquid)
- 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup gula melaka (chopped)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Add some water to grated coconut and squeeze out 19oz. (570ml.) santan/coconut milk.
- Mix well all tapioca tapioca layer ingredients with 7 oz. (210ml.) santan.
- Turn into a greased square tray and steam 30-40 mins. till set.
- To prepare santan layer. Blend remaining santan with cornflour and salt.
- Pour over brown layer and continue steaming, about 15 mins. till set.
- Cool well before cutting into squares to serve.
