Golden Sponge Cake Recipe

Ingredients for Golden Sponge Cake
Sifted Ingredients:
  • 1 1/3 cups sifted flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 12 egg yolks
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • 1 Tbs. grated orange peel
  • 1 tsp. orange essence
  • 1 1/4 cups castor sugar
  1. Add orange juice and hot water gradually to egg yolks and beat well.
  2. Stir orange peel and orange essence.
  3. Add in sugar and beat well after each addition.
  4. Gently fold in flour till well blended.
  5. Pour mixture into a 10-in. (25-cm) tube pan.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 325°F for about 1 hr. or cake springs back when lightly pressed.
  7. Remove from oven to cool on a wire tray.
  8. Cut and serve.
