- 5 large eggs
- 5 oz. (155g.) castor sugar.
- 3 Tbs. evaporated milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla essence
- 5 oz. (155g) flour (sifted)
- 2 sheets wax-paper
- strawberry jam
- Beat eggs and sugar toll creamy for 20 mins. Add milk and vanilla essence. Beat 2 mins. Fold in flour gradually.
- Bring water in steamer to boil. Line upper steamer with a sheet of wax-paper.
- Pour ½ cake mixture onto the sheet. Spread into a thin layer.
- Steam for 5 mins., when cake should be springy and dry to touch. Remove from steamer and peel off paper while hot. Spread jam on this side.
- Roll one end to the middle of cake and stop. Starting from the opposite edge, roll to meet in the middle too. Leave this roll aside.
- Make another cake with the remaining cake mixture. Do the same as before.
- Slice rolls to serve.
